Have you ever been to place where you feel like you need change? Change the way you are thinking, talking or even maybe change the direction that you are taking. However, you just cannot seem to get past day one or two of the change. Maybe you do not want to change the way you do things, maybe it is that you want to change a job, or change a relationship, that just could be better. Change is not easy sometimes, but it can be rewarding. I have done bookkeeping for over 20 years; it has not been easy making that change from bookkeeper to Life Coach. I may even still doubt my change (every now and then), but then I remember why I wanted to make a change. Change for the better, I love to help people. I had a clear vision and then I set goals from that vision. Proverbs 29:18 (MSG) “If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed”.

What we all must understand is that our level of success is in direct proportion to what we actually get ourselves to do – what we actually act upon, believe in, are passionate about, and willing to follow through.

Extensive research done at several prestigious universities points to the same conclusion: every person who accomplishes a great deal, and performs at optimum levels, does so by having a clear vision and goal of what they want. Having a clear vision and goal is the hallmark of every form of high achieving.

Dreams, goals, and your own innate potential are useless without having the ability to follow through on them. So, what clear vision do you have for your future, or are your hopes merely a dream?

Have you ever had a person in your life that just seemed to change from positive to negative. Wondering why they just continue to speak negative things over peoples lives. Talking about the bad things or talking about others negatively. Have you ever heard the saying if you don’t have nothing nice to say, DON”T say anything at all. WOW that would really cut out some gossip wouldn’t it. I had words with someone a couple of weeks ago just on this topic.

When you continue to talk about people from your past you are giving them the power to control your thoughts and heart. For example, Someone had posted some mean things about some people in a church that they use to go to. DO you really think that sharing that information truly made people feel better OR did it stir up strife, anger, discord, anger, and hatred in the hearts of others? I feel that when you are telling your journey in life, if it talks negative about anyone else or another church, It’s not God’s will to spread that to others. No its doesn’t matter if you are tell what happened to you, and it may be true, it may be a lie. There is always two sides to every story.

With all that being said, I believe that God isn’t for us telling our lives journey when it hurts others or causes hatred or discord. For example, when you are telling people that others are gossiping in a meeting and serving people up on a dinner plater, to me, that is trying to cause discord while spreading and planting anger and hatred.

We have to remember that when people read things whether good or bad, that is planting a seed. Someone will come along with a negative or positive statement and water that seed. What types of seeds are you planting in others lives. Are you planting seeds that are positive with your words or are you planting seeds that are negative?

Proverbs 10:19 In a multitude of words transgression is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is prudent.

Proverbs 15:1 A SOFT answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.

Proverbs 18:20 A man’s [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil].

Matthew 12:37 For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.

POWER OF GRATITUDE (Part 2)- Some Ways to Practice Gratitude

  • Keep a gratitude journal in which you list things for which you are thankful. You can make daily, weekly or monthly lists. Greater frequency may be better for creating a new habit, but just keeping that journal where you can see it will remind you to think in a grateful way.
  • Make a gratitude collage by drawing or pasting pictures.
  • Practice gratitude around the dinner table or make it part of your nighttime routine.
  • Make a game of finding the hidden blessing in a challenging situation.
  • When you feel like complaining, make a gratitude list instead. You may be amazed by how much better you feel.
  • Notice how gratitude is impacting your life. Write about it, sing about it, and express thanks for gratitude.

As you practice, an inner shift begins to occur, and you may be delighted to discover how content and hopeful you are feeling. That sense of fulfillment is gratitude at work.

If all you had to do was wish for something and you would have it, life would be pretty boring, wouldn’t it? God placed barriers between us and what we want, so we can enjoy interesting and satisfying lives. God hid our biggest rewards behind the highest barriers – our deepest fears. God wants us to face our fears, and hold ground in their presence, and let them go, and that’s how we get out biggest rewards. What are you most afraid of? Say it, just start by saying it.

LISTEN: Is God talking?

Have you ever been with someone that just seems to have the personality that just does not match you. Maybe your quiet and they are loud. Just image how Jesus feels sometimes. We walk through life everyday sometimes we are so busy or it is so loud that we can’t hear the voice of God. Have you ever been there before? Go ahead raise your hand, no one will see. Sometimes God just needs us to be quiet in him. I believe when this happens God is able to talk. Just be sure to listen.

Psalm 37:7 Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

LOVE: Are you walking in it?

Have you ever found yourself, not able to walk in love? I know that I have been there before. It was as though my heart had turned cold to certain things or people. One day I was watching the news and something happened, I can’t really remember what it was that happened, but what came out of my mouth wasn’t love. God said to me, Sherry where is the love of God that is supposed to be flowing out of your heart. I have to be honest, I was lost at words. I begin to pray that God would help me.

Sometimes it isn’t easy to love people. You know Jesus loved the unlovable and we are supposed to love the loveable and unlovable. 1 Thessalonians 4:9 (MSG) Regarding life together and getting along with each other, you don’t need me to tell you what to do. You’re God-taught in these matters. Just love one another! I know one time I told God, that I just need you to love them through me, next thing you know I was walking in love with that person. I believe that love is an action first and then it becomes a feeling.

ROADBLOCK: Rejection

Please forgive me, its kind of long, but please read it all.

How about the roadblock of rejection, when I woke up this morning, God said to talk about being rejected and what it does to a person’s relationship with God or even others. I know this on a personal basis because I was rejected (I know how it affected my life and relationship with others).

Rejection can become a roadblock with your relationships whether it is with God or others. I know with me, I didn’t trust people easily. Everyone was the enemy until that person could prove to me they can be trusted. I know I had one friend that took over three years before I truly let her become friends with me. I’ll be nice to people, but to truly be friends with me wasn’t an easy road to walk.

You see I was the same way with God. I felt like God had to prove himself to me, Wait he is the creator of me. Yea, I know, but this is what rejection did to me. Rejection makes you not trust anyone, not even your creator. After being rejected by my earthly father (the sperm donor) it affected the way I viewed things. I had a hard time trusting anyone, even God. Why, I knew God loved me, I knew that God would do anything for me if I asked. That didn’t matter to me. I went to church just about my whole life; I had a relationship with God, but at arm’s length. I really didn’t trust him.

About five years ago, I believe God begin to work with me on my rejection roadblock. He knew that I needed to grow more in him, but this roadblock was holding my back. I don’t think it was stopping my relationship with God, but I think it was at a standstill. I prayed and asked God to help me with this roadblock; it was a deep rooted issue.

You see the enemy knows what he is doing when he has your earthly father reject his children. It starts with a seed that is planted by them, then it grows when it is watered by, I wish you weren’t born, or by every hit or punch you receive, by every passing birthday and you receive not even a card or a birthday call, by not even being recognized that you exist. Then that seed grows to such a point that it is painful to see or speak to that person.

This is how I handled my roadblock. I asked God to forgive me for unforgiveness. Then I forgave my dad, (at first it took a little bit to set in, but forgiveness isn’t an emotion it’s an action). Then I begin praying this scripture into my life: Hebrews 13:5b-6 (AMP) for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]
So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?

When my dad died this pass January, Rejection tried to show his ugly head again with me. Because even unto his death he rejected my brother and I by not even recognizing us in his will. It was as though we didn’t exist. But after days of crying and praying, I got a tap on my shoulder by my father in heaven, GOD, who reminded me of that scripture in Hebrew that he would never leave or forsake me.

If this story sounds like you, please know that God loves you with all that is within you. Just get that roadblock moved by using the word of God.

I am not a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist. My training has been in me becoming a life coach and counselor. The primary difference in my training and approach from these other professions is that my focus is on the present and the future rather than the past. My intention is to help you create the life you want by understanding your life now as opposed to diving into your past. This is not to say that I don’t talk at all about the past, rather that it isn’t the primary focus.
